Charles Henry Luthy, 71, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:45 P.M., Friday, May 27, 2005 at the Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Charles had been a truck mechanic for Owens Transfer for many years and then a truck driver for Roadway.  He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin.  He was a member of the Teamsters Union and a former member of Du Quoin American Legion.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was born June 4, 1933 at Percy, IL, the son of Henry and Marie (Bagley) Luthy.
He married Jean Hirsch on April 3, 1953 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one son - Kevin Luthy and wife Julie of Chapmanville, WV, three brothers - Jack Luthy of Du Quoin, Dan Luthy of Willisville, and Bill Luthy of Pinckneyville, one sister - Sherilyn Bruns of Pinckneyville, two grandchildren - Jerrad Luthy and Jessica Luthy, both of Chapmanville, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister - Carolyn Luthy.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin with Rev. Pam Webb officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Tuesday at the church.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the St. John's United Church of Christ and will be accepted at the funeral home.
